Webster City-Hamilton County saw a drop in its unemployment for April. The Iowa Workforce Development office reported today (Wednesday), the unemployment rate for the month of April at 2.2 percent. The rate for March was 2.7 percent. There were 7,720 people employed in Hamilton County for April while 170 people were without work. The unemployment rates for surrounding counties for April include Boone County at 2.0 percent, Franklin County at 2.5 percent, Hardin and Story Counties were tied at 2.2 percent, Webster County at 2.6 percent and Wright County came in at 2.1 percent. The unemployment rate for April in Iowa remained at 3.3 percent which was the same as in March. Statewide, there were 1,677,800 Iowans employed in April while 57,200 were without work.
