Iowa State Patrol investigate two Saturday accidents on Interstate 35 in Hamilton County.

The Iowa State Patrol investigated two motor vehicle accidents both happening at the 138-mile marker on Interstate 35 northeast of Ellsworth in Hamilton County on Saturday morning. The first one happened just before 9:30 a.m. when a northbound 2025 model Kia K4 car driven by Brodie Kohrs of Ames ran off the road right colliding with a mile marker sign. The Kohrs car came to a final rest in the east ditch. Kohrs told investigating trooper Bennett Eaton that he was avoiding a deer crossing the highway at the time. The damage to the Kohrs auto was estimated at $7000 with an estimated $5,500 damage to the mile marker sign. A charge of Failure to Maintain Contral was filed against Brodie Kohrs in the accident report. No injuries were reported.

Two sport utility vehicles were damaged at the same mile marker of Interstate 35 at 10 a.m. Saturday. Reportedly a northbound 2019 model Lexus R35 SUV operated by Toni Tiemeier of Ankeny and another northbound vehicle, a northbound 2015 model Jeep Cherokee SUV driven by Kayla Alcott of Madrid collided with one another on the highway. Both vehicles were slowing down due to a previous accident on the Interstate.  There were no injuries reported. Investigating state trooper Payton Harris estimated the damage to the Alcott SUV at $5000 with the damage to the Tiemeier SUV at $2000.
