Parishioners of the Catholic churches that make up the Archdiocese of Dubuque will find out this weekend on the future of the church and its priests in the 30 counties of northeast Iowa that make up the archdiocese. Hamilton and Wright Counties are a part of it. Over the past year, parishioners have attended informational meetings and gathering input on the future direction of the Catholic church in northeast Iowa. The decision includes the future of Catholic churches and its priests. The members of the churches during the Easter services this past weekend learned of an announcement to be made this Saturday,April 11th by Archbishop Thomas Zinkula on the assignment of all priests in the archdiocese. The new weekday Mass schedule will begin July 15th, and the weekend Mass schedule will begin July 18th and 19th. There are 183,700 members in the Dubuque Archdiocese. The churches include St. Thomas Aquinas of Webster City and St. Mary’s in Williams in Hamilton County. In Wright County, they are a cluster made up of Sacred Heart in Eagle Grove. St. John’s in Clarion and St. Francis Xavier in Belmond.
