Stratford City Council discusses summer operation of the city’s outdoor pool and Stratford On The Loose next month.

Stratford-A lengthy discussion was held at the Stratford City Council meeting on Monday evening regarding the Stratford Swimming Pool . There are plans on prorating the season pass prices, looking into extending the season with opening on weekends after school starts and offering one free swim night. The city will also consider adult swimming time once the pool is open after the repair work is completed by the end of June. The council approved to prorate pass pricing and approve holding adult swim time either before the pool opens or after the pool closes.

Plans for the activities associated with the “Stratford on the Loose’ celebration on July 11th were presented to the Stratford City Council.The Stratford Lions Club will handle the parade beginning at 10:00 a.m.. The celebration in Stratford will include activities in the park. There will be craft events in the Stratford Community Center on July 11th at 4:30 . Hawk McIntyre and Blacktop will provide the evening musical entertainment in the Main Street area of Stratford.

The council looked at plans for the purchase of equipment at the Stratford City Pool. They include new shade structures for lifeguard chairs, a baby pool and sun deck plus a basketball hoop for the pool. Plans for fixing the sound system or updating the system were discussed. The City of Stratford will look into grants to purchase the equipment for the pool.

There was a discussion on a funding request for the Stratford Early Learning Center that was on the May 11th agenda. Stratford City Manager Kim Leeds had a meeting with Webster City city manager John Harrenstein explaining the program. Leeds went on to explain that Hamilton County is reducing its funding for the next fiscal year. The program has continued to be funded, it just will not be run through the county.
