Ellsworth- Residents of Ellsworth can now request access to the city brush site. The Ellsworth City Council Tuesday night voted in favor of allowing residents to use the keys for the site by contacting the city council members Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. An agreement was approved by the council with its legal counsel Lynn Seaba to represent the city on the matter of the easement/property access and approved the terms and agreement with the current adjoining property owner on the brush site.
The council was updated on the new Jewell Ellsworth Police Department shield and logo and the new decal plans for the police vehicle. A discussion will be at the next Police Board meeting about the hiring of a part-time police officer for both the Ellsworth and Jewell communities.
Ellsworth City Clerk Heidi Eckers has reached out to Webster City City Manager John Harrenstein to discuss their process for both building inspections for building permits and also code enforcements for nuisance properties in violation of the maintenance ordinances. Eckers informed the council that a meeting will be set up with Webster City staff and Ellsworth Mayor Barry Anksorus to discuss the matter further prior to bringing a proposed plan of action to the Council.
Discussion on a policy for E-Bikes, Scooters and Electric Vehicles and the Accessory Building at 546 Des Moines Street were tabled by the Ellsworth City Council to a future meeting. Alyssa Zimmerman of Ellsworth was appointed by the city council to fill a vacancy on the Ellsworth Library Board. Three applications have been received for the position of Ellsworth associate accountant. Interviewe with the prospective candidates will be held this Tuesday, August 4th. The Ellsworth City Council thanked Siriaco Garcia for the final mural design on the side of the Ellsworth City Hall building abutting the downtown greenspace.
