Andy Brim to be named head coach of Webster City football

KQWC Radio learned on Friday morning that Andy Brim will be named the next head football coach of the Webster City Lynx for the 2024 season, pending school board approval. Brim, a Webster City native, had just finished his 17th season with the program, serving as defensive coordinator, and will be taking over for the outgoing Hall-of-Famer Bob Howard.

Brim becomes just the 7th head football coach for the Webster City program since 1948, when Hall of Fame coach Harley Rollinger arrived in Webster City. Rollinger finished his tenure in Webster City at 131-27 before getting hired at Moline (IL) High School in the Quad Cities. Rollinger was replaced with Dick Tighe, who would eventually become the winningest coach in state history until 2022, as Tighe was 220-72-1 in his 30 years with the Lynx.

Kurt Luhring took over in 1997 and posted a 12-33 record before stepping down after the 2001 season. Dick Kennedy and Jim Duncan would take over as co-head coaches in 2002, where the duo would go 11-33 over 5 seasons before Bob Howard took over in 2007, after departing from Sigourney-Keota. Howard would go 124-56 in his 17 seasons in Webster City, stepping down in November after 46 years as a head coach.

Webster City’s season opens at Fort Dodge in August 2024.
