Hamilton County Conservation Board looking at a new pump system at Briggs Woods Golf Course.

At their January meeting on Friday morning the Hamilton County Conservation Board voted to recommend to the Hamilton County Supervisors to replace the Briggs Woods Golf Course irrigation pump house with a vertical turbine pump system including an composite enclosure. The estimate cost from the engineer is at $290,000. This issue will be discussed at a future Hamilton County Supervisors meeting.
There was a look at proposed rules and regulations for Hamilton County conservation areas. One of them is to remove all tree stands from public hunting areas in certain areas of the parks. Another is to allow the operators of ATVs and UTVs inside the county parks to use main roadways only. The vehicles need to be registered and licensed like any other vehicle. In other policies, those renting golf carts at Briggs Woods Golf Course will require the use of a credit card or driver’s license until the rental cart is returned. All pet owners in the county parks will be required to clean up after their their pet plus no swimming or wading pools would be allowed in the camping areas. The second reading on these policies will be read next month with approval to follow.
The next scheduled meeting of the Hamilton County Conservation Board will be on Thursday, February 24 at 9:30 a.m. at the Briggs Woods conservation office south of Webster City.
