Hamilton County experiences a slight increase in unemployment for November.

The November unemployment rate for Hamilton County was released on Thursday. The Iowa Workforce Development office reported the rate the month was 2.5 percent. This was an increase from the September rate of 2.3 percent for those working in Hamilton County. There was no report for October due to the government shutdown.  A total of 7,700 people were employed across Hamilton County in November while there were 200 people unemployed.  In surrounding counties,Boone County was at 2.6 percent, Franklin and Hardin Counties tied at 2.9 percent, Story and Wright Counties were tied at a rate of 2.4 percent and Webster County was at 3.1 percent in November.

Iowa’s unemployment rate for November was 3.5 percent down from the September rate of 3.7 percent. There were 1,683,000 Iowans employed during November with 61,700 Iowans unemployed for the month in the latest statistics released last week.
