Ellsworth-The popularity of E-bikes and scooters through the community of Ellsworth and its city limits has grown in recent months. The Ellsworth City Council will discuss the issue further at its October 28th meeting. The meeting will present examples from other communities of ordinance examples concerning the use of E-bikes and scooters in Ellsworth.
Ellsworth City Clerk Heidi Eckers updated the council on recent meetings with the ISU College of Design students concerning the 10-year comprehensive planning process. The data will be gathered by the ISU students regarding utilities, maps and more. The students have been supplied by the City of Ellsworth with financial records, and balance sheets to help in the planning process. Council members were present with some preliminary boundary and land usage maps from the students from Iowa State. There was a discussion and a request to the council looking to the east of Interstate 35 when thinking future and potential expansion and land use for the City of Ellsworth. The next community meeting has been postponed until November 3rd at 6:30 p.m. at the Ellsworth Community Center with all residents encouraged to attend.
The Ellsworth City Council approve the purchase of Pole Mount transformers through the Fletcher Reinhardt Company totaling $9840. The council approved closing the 4-way intersection of Des Moines Avenue and Dewitt Street from the Ellsworth Public Library to Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday,October 30th for the Ellsworth Halloween Festivities.
An insurance audit and adjustment was tabled until Ellsworth City Clerk Eckers can discuss the potential additions of City Hall and the Community Center to the blanket replacement coverage policy
