Webster City boys and girls track compete at Ram Relays in Jefferson

The Webster City Lynx track and field teams returned to action on Monday afternoon, as they made the trip to Jefferson to compete in the annual Ram Relays at Linduska Field in Jefferson. The Lynx were joined by the host Rams, as well as ACGC, Boone, Carroll, Carroll Kuemper, Fort Dodge, Perry and St. Edmond.

Webster City’s boys sent a partial team to Monday’s meet, in hopes of getting more qualifying numbers for the Drake Relays. Jaxon Cherry would place 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 51′ 5″. while placing 3rd in the discus with a throw of 146′ 11″. Justin Callahan would place 3rd in the 400m hurdles in a time of 57.95, while the 4×100 also placed 3rd in a time of 45.07 with the team of Griffith-Hisler-Hrnicek-Weinzetl. The 4×200 would place 4th with a time of 1:36.82 with the team of Griffith-Hisler-Hrnicek-Weinzetl, while Brandon Lahr placed 5th in the shot put with a throw of 44′ even.

The Lynx girls would put out a couple of winners on Monday evening, the first coming from freshman Isabel Grossoehme in the 400m dash, winning in a time of 1:02.75. The 4×200 would then take home gold in a time of 1:54.37 with the team of Savitski-Gallentine-Weinschenk-Wright. Adeline Tesdahl would bring home the final gold medal in the 400m hurdles, winning in a time of 1:12.11. Other notable results included a 2nd place finish for the 4×800 in a time of 12:37.15 with the team of Oswald-VanDeer-Olson-Hurt, while the 4×100 placed 3rd in 54.17 with the team of Tesdahl-Weinschenk-Gallentine-Savitski. In field events, Adysen Poppen placed 4th in the shot put with a throw of 34′ 4″, while Jakaela Cherry was 4th in the discus with a throw of 93′ 10″. Tateelina Vankham was 5th in the long jump with a mark of 14′ 1″.
