Webster City wrestling splits tri-dual at Boone

The Webster City Lynx wrestling team returned to action on Thursday evening, as they made the short trek down to Boone to compete in a tri-dual at Boone High School. The Lynx were joined by the host Toreadors and the Carroll Tigers.

Webster City started the night taking on the Carroll Tigers with the match beginning at 285 lbs, where Landon Griffin picked up a 1st period fall in 27 seconds. Carroll’s Jake Kinkade would pin Webster City’s Angel Ramirez at 106, before the Lynx reeled off 3 straight wins via pin from Linden Phetxoumphone, Brayden Burtnett and Carson Doolittle. However, the Tigers would start their own onslaught after that, starting with a Levi Dirkx pin at 132, before the Tigers picked up wins by fall from 138 to 165 to take a 40-24 lead. Luke Estlund stopped the bledding momentarily with a pin at 175 lbs, but Quentin Polking and Gavin Holt cinched up a 52-30 win with a pair of falls for Carroll.
