Final weeks for survey for the Hamilton County Conservation Board

This is your final opportunity to help Hamilton County Conservation Seek Public Input about Parks and Open Spaces- “What do you want to see?”
Hamilton County Conservation Board (HCCB) has launched a public survey that seeks to learn what people want to see and do in their county parks and natural resource areas. Known for camping, golfing, hunting, fishing and trails, HCCB is interested in hearing from people of all ages, from all over the county, and has created a simple online survey to do so. This is your last opportunity to do so as we will remove the survey at the end of December and tally the results in January.
Hamilton County Conservation Headquarters is located in Central Iowa and their team manages 16 individual parks, wildlife areas and river accesses, collectively encompassing over 2,000 acres. In addition, several major creeks and the Boone River flow through the county providing numerous water recreation opportunities. Briggs Woods Park was the first county park in Iowa, with land donated to the people of Hamilton County in 1919, preceding the creation of the state park system. The Briggs Family had the foresight to see the need for parks and recreation and we want to continue that legacy and have your input.
During the pandemic, parks and trails have seen a tremendous uptick in usage. They offer a release valve for urbanites, as a relatively safe healthy and inexpensive place to exercise and escape. While we slowly exit the COVID-19 era, many have discovered a renewed appreciation of open space. A greater love for parks and trails, with an understanding of the role they play in public health and local economies, can create a high quality-of-life for rural and urban communities alike.
Hamilton County Conservation is engaging in an updated future strategic plan. We are excited for you to be a part in helping determine and shape our future. Your participation is the only way we will know and understand what the public wants from their county parks, wildlife management areas, environmental education, and all the outdoor recreation opportunities that await you here in Hamilton County.
