Jewell- During their Monday evening meeting, the South Hamilton Community School Board approved sharing agreements for the 2026-27 school year. The board approved superintendent Heather Holm sharing her duties with the United of Boone school district. South Hamilton transportation director Grant Oskvig will share his duties with the United of Boone district for the next school year. A sharing agreement with the Boone Community School District with the Special Education director was approved. The Food Service director position will be shared with the Ogden Community School District was also approved by the South Hamilton school board.
The following fees were approved by the South Hamilton School Board last Monday evening. Adult Lunch Prices will increase from the current rate to $5.15. The minimum adult meal price established by the federal state guidelines for 2026/27 is at $5.14. The student meal prices with milk will be increased by 10 cents to help offset rising food and supply costs. The South Hamilton school yearbook will be increased from $60 to $65. The school yearbook fund is currently operating at a deficit, and the adjustment will help support production costs. The preschool transportation will be an increase from $25 to $30 due to increased fuel and transportation costs. As for the activity passes, there will be an increase for the adult activity pass from $120 to $130 and a family activity pass from $250 to $275. The athletic fund is currently operating at a deficit and the adjustments will help support program expenses for the next school year. AE Dairy will supply the milk products at South Hamilton for the 2026/27 school year as the board approved the contract this week.
In other matters at Monday’s meeting, the South Hamilton board declared the gym flooring, the 2012 Bluebird school bus and the listed IT equipment as obsoleted and authorized their sale as soon as possible.
In personnel matters, the South Hamilton board approved new contracts for Desiree Fisher as an individual speech coach, Nicole Schweiger as activities secretary and assistant office manager. The South Hamilton School board approved the Conflict of Interest Waiver for the Boone and South Hamilton Community School Districts to work with Ahlers and Cooney on the 28E Agreement for the Special Education Director.
There has been a strong start to the summer programming at South Hamilton with 51 students participating in the district’s four-week summer school program. Enrollment projections for the 2026-27 school year remain positive for South Hamilton with solid class sizes across pre-school through sixth grade and a number of new students enrolling at each grade level particularly in kindergarten. Throughout the summer, elementary staff and administration will focus on finalizing class schedules, student rosters, association staffing assignments and duty schedules,while also updating handbooks and preparing for the start of the school year in August.
South Hamilton School board members thanked Todd Coy for his years of service at South Hamilton and wished him well in his retirement after 38 years with the district.
