Lucchesi claims individual title for Roland-Story cross country at Greene County

JEFFERSON, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen cross country teams returned to action on Thursday evening, as they made the trip west on Highway 30 to run in the Greene County Invitational at Spring Lake Park outside Jefferson. The Norse were joined by the host Rams, as well as Carroll, Denison-Schleswig, IKM-Manning, Missouri Valley, Ogden, Perry, Southeast Valley and West Central Valley.

Roland-Story’s boys would place 6th as a team with 119 points, but the Norsemen did boast the individual champion in senior Corben Lucchesi, who won with a time of 17:06.82, while younger brother Caden Lucchesi placed 6th in a time of 17:55.49. Jerry Severeson was 40th in 20:21.93, Josiah Potratz was 47th in 20:42.06, while Josiah Stotts rounded out scoring in 53rd with a time of 21:00.27.

Roland-Story’s girls would place 2nd with a total of 53 points, as the Norse had the meet runner-up in senior Kara Patterson, who ran in a time of 21:24.91, while junior Sophie Bates was 4th in a time of 22:09.74. Junior Hadley Carlson was 11th in 23:14.01, Callie Jedlicka was 2nd in 24:29.50, as Lucy Schmidt rounded out scoring in 26th with a time of 24:59.78.

Roland-Story cross country returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Huxley to run in the Mike Carr Invitational at Ballard Golf and Country Club, beginning at 4:30 PM.
