The Iowa State Patrol released details of an accident involving a semi and SUV at 265th Street and Hancock Avenue east of Eagle Grove at mid-morning Tuesday. Reportedly a 2019 model Freightliner semi operated by Daniel Oldenkamp of Algona was heading southbound on Hancock Avenue when an eastbound 2010 Ford Edge SUV operated by Cooper Reiland of Belmond failed to yield from the stop sign at 265th Street and was struck broadside by the Oldenkamp semi. Both vehicles entered the east ditch and came to rest near a cornfield. The crash remains under investigation. Four people including both drivers, a passenger in the Reiland SUV, identified as Armando Melendez of Clarion and a passenger in the Oldenkamp semi identified as Clay Riedesel from Wesley were transported to Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion for treatment by the Clarion EMS.The Wright County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Iowa State Patrol in the investigation.
