BELMOND, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and Cowgirls cross country teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the short trip to northeastern Wright County to compete in the annual R.S. Belmond-Klemme Invite at the Belmond Country Club. The Eagles and Cowboys were joined by the host Broncos, as well as BCLUW, Central Springs, Clear Lake Classical, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Lake Mills, Manson-Northwest Webster, Newman Catholic, North Butler, North Iowa, Northwood-Kensett, Rockford, St. Edmond, West Fork and West Hancock.
Eagle Grove’s girls did not compete as a complete team, but freshman London Parrott did grab a top 5 finish, placing 5th in a time of 21:10.3, as junior Myka Anderson placed 37th in a time of 24:43.9, with Ingrid Pull rounding out the lineup in 43rd.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows’s girls also did not compete as a complete team, as freshman Addyson Greenfield placed 48th in 26:01.7, while Sofia Dahlgren placed 91st in a time of 35:10.4.
Eagle Grove’s boys would place 6th with a total of 190 points, as senior Hunter Waldo-Martinez led the way in a time of 18:49.2, as freshman Stetson Kvale was 29th in 19:26.6. Junior Asarel Castro was 42nd, senior Anthony Vasquez was 60th as freshman Tucker Taylor rounded out the scoring in 69th.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows’s boys placed 10th with a total of 21 7 points, as senior Logan Torsell placed 21st in a time of 19:00.3, while sophomore Carson Gump was 27th in 19:21.1. Freshman Max Engstler was 56th, Junior Eduardo Rivera was 58th and junior Roy Hoang rounded out scoring in 86th.
Eagle Grove cross country returns to action on Monday when they travel to Huxley for the Mike Carr Invitational at Ballard Golf and Country Club beginning at 5 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows cross country returns to action next Thursday, when they compete at the Clear Lake Invitational at Veterans Memorial Golf Club, beginning at 5 PM.
