South Hamilton football shuts out Panorama in home-opener, 52-0

JEWELL, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks football team returned to the field on Friday night, as they hosted the Panorama Panthers in non-district action at Bill Taylor Field. South Hamilton entered with a record of 0-1, while Panorama entered with a similar 0-1 mark.

South Hamilton took the football first, marched down the field and score on a 24-yard touchdown run by Wyatt Gelder as the Hawks took an early 8-0 lead. Panorama would punt on their opening possession, as the Hawks would follow by scoring once more, this time on a 27-yard touchdown run by Kash Northrup as the Hawks took a 16-0 lead. Following another Panthers punt, Hawks running back Wyatt Gelder ripped the game open with a 90-yard touchdown run, as the Hawks took a 24-0 lead, before Gelder scored once more before the end of the first on a 19-yard touchdown run as South Hamilton led 32-0 after the opening frame. Gelder then scored his 4th touchdown of the night on a 47-yard scamper in the 2nd quarter, as South Hamilton took a 38-0 lead into the halftime break.

The Hawks would start the 2nd half off with a bang by scoring on a Kaden Dean pick six from 39 yards out as the Hawks took a 45-0 lead early in the 3rd quarter. South Hamilton put the finishing touches on things in the 4th quarter with a Maddux Becker short touchdown run as South Hamilton capped a 52-0 shutout of Panorama.

South Hamilton rolled up 438 yards rushing on Friday, as junior Wyatt Gelder led the way with 10 carries for 234 yards and 4 touchdowns, as sophomore Kash Northrop added 5 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown. Senior Spencer Davis finished with 3 tackles, 2 TFL and a sack on Friday.

South Hamilton football returns to action on Friday, when they host the Southeast Valley Jaguars in non-district action at Bill Taylor Field in Jewell, with kickoff slated for 7 PM.
