Webster City-There were a wide range of issues facing the Hamilton County Conservation Board at their Thursday meeting at Briggs Woods Park. The board plans to work with the Bolton and Menk firm of Des Moines and with the Hamilton County Hotel Motel Tax committee on improving the signage inside of Briggs Woods Park south of Webster City.The renditions of the proposed signs were presented to the board for their review. No action was taken at the Thursday meeting. The issue will be revisited against next month.
The conservation board met with Darcy Swon of the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation regarding the Conservation Legacy Fund. The funds would help the trail project from Jewell south to Little Wall Lake Park, the stocking of walleyes at Briggs Woods Lake and for funding for the future Nature Center project at Briggs Woods Park.
A tour of Briggs Woods Park wrapped up the day Thursday by board members. Iowa State Senator Dennis Guth and Democratic house candidate Cynthia Oppedal Paschen participated in the tour of the park. There was information on the watershed project for Briggs Woods and other improvements in the future.
The board was also reminded of the centennial celebration set for next Saturday, August 1st at Bells Mill Park near Stratford. There will be a day of tours, raffles, and music for the Bells Bash celebration on August 1st.
The Hamilton County Conservation Board will meet again on August 27th at 9:30 at the conservation office at Briggs Woods Park.
