LAKE MILLS, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they made the trip to far northern Iowa to take on the Lake Mills Bulldogs in Top of Iowa West action at the Lake Mills Sports Complex. Eagle Grove entered at 5-2, while Lake Mills entered at 0-4.
A scoreless first inning gave way to Eagle Grove plating a run in the 2nd on a Lola Kreitlow RBI double to take a 1-0 lead, before the Eagles plated3 runs in the top of the 5th off a Crystal Flores RBI single and a Holly Anderson 2-run home run to take a 4-0 lead. Lake Mills scored a pair of runs off a couple errors in the 5th, but Eagle Grove added another run in the 6th on a Myka Anderson RBI single to settle a 5-2 victory.
Johanna Flores Baez was the winning pitcher, going 7 innings and allowing 2 runs (0 earned) on 4 hits and striking out 4. Myka Anderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Holly Anderson went 1-for-4 with a 2-run home run.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Thursday, when they host Manson-Northwest Webster in non-conference action at Greenwood Park, with first pitch at 7 PM.
