Webster City-One person is dead after a structure fire at mid-morning Thursday in Webster City. Webster City Fire Chief Chuck Stansfield reported fire trucks responded to the fire at 735 Boone Street. When they arrived, smoke and flames were coming from the front door. A search team began the search from the back side of the house to find an individual inside the residence. The victim was found by fire fighters and the search team under the intensity of the heat of the fire. Rescue crews provided care to the individual who was taken to Van Diest Medical Center where the person was pronounced dead due to smoke inhalation and burns. The name of the individual is not being released at this time. A family cat died in Thursday morning’s fire. The fire originated in the main family room with the cause behind the Thursday fire remains undetermined. The house sustained moderate to heavy fire damage in the front family room and smoke damage throughout the residence. Assisting the Webster City Fire Department and Vand Diest Medical Center EMS staff were members of the Webster City Police Department and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.
