CARROLL, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx volleyball team returned to the floor on Tuesday night, as they made the trip into western Iowa to take on the Carroll Tigers in Class 4A, Region 7 action at Carroll High School. Webster City entered at 20-14, while Carroll entered at 18-14.
Tuesday’s opening set would be a battle from start to finish with Carroll outlasting the Lynx in set 1 by a score of 25-23, as it would be the same story in set 2 with the Tigers coming out victorious at 25-22. Webster City did have a response by stealing the 3rd set 25-23 to force a 4th set, but a big Carroll lead to start the match proved too much to overcome as the Lynx fell 25-17 and 3-1 in the match.
The Aces of the Match, presented by Ace Hardware of Webster City were seniors Tristyn Wright and Avery Poppen. Wright totaled 13 kills, 2 blocks and 2 aces, while Poppen added 11 kills, 4 blocks and 2 aces in their final matches in a Lynx uniform. Evie Davis added 9 kills and 4 blocks, as Allison Arends had 8 kills.
Carroll advances to face #5 North Polk in the Class 4A, Region 7 semifinals on Thursday at 7 PM in Alleman. Webster City’s season concludes at 20-15.
