Webster City softball outlasts Storm Lake in extra innings, 2-1

WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Storm Lake Tornadoes in non-conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 1-2, as Storm Lake entered at 3-1.

Webster City got on the board first in the first inning with a Morgan Tempel RBI triple to put Webster City ahead 1-0. However, Storm Lake responded in the 2nd with a Grace Kenkel solo home run to tie the game at 1-1. That 1-1 score would last all the way into extra innings, as Webster City had the final say with a Hayden McCoy RBI single that scored Morgan Tempel, to cap a 2-1, walk-off victory.

Briley VanDeer was the winning pitcher, going 8 innings and allowing 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 4. Morgan Tempel went 1-for-4 with an RBI triple, as Briley VanDeer went 2-for-3 with a triple.

Webster City softball returns to action on Wednesday, as they travel to Clear Lake to take on the Lions in North Central Conference action at Lions Field with first pitch at 7:30 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
