Roland-Story softball shuts out Forest City in 5 innings, 8-0

ROLAND, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Forest City Indians in non-conference action at the Hennessey Diamonds in Roland. Roland-Story entered at 3-1, as Forest City also entered at 3-1.

Roland-Story struck early with a Keely Oberender RBI groundout in the first to take a 1-0 lead, before the Norse tallied 6 runs in the 2nd on a Cece Doyle RBI single, a Klair Krausman 2-run RBI double, a bases-loaded walk and a Miley Geise 2-run RBI single to put Roland-Story ahead 7-0. The Norsemen would add onto the lead in the 4th with an Evelyn Carlson solo home run in the 4th, before shutting down Forest City in the 5th to cap an 8-0, 5-inning victory.

Miley Geise picked up the win in the circle, pitching 5 innings and allowing no runs on 3 hits and striking out 8. Evelyn Carlson would go 2-for-3 with a solo home run, while Klaire Krausman went 1-for-2 with a 2-run RBI double.

Roland-Story softball returns to action on Wednesday, as they travel to State Center to take on (2A) #10 West Marshall in Heart of Iowa Conference action, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
