Roland-Story softball downs South Hamilton in 4 innings, 11-1

ROLAND, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks softball teams returned to action Friday night, as the two rivals met once again in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Hennessey Diamonds in Roland. Roland-Story entered at 1-1, while South Hamilton entered at 0-2.

South Hamilton struck first on Friday, with Adey Trask hitting her first career home run to put the Hawks ahead 1-0. Roland-Story responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the first off a Keely Oberender RBI single and a Lauren Crabbs RBI double to make it 2-1. The Norsemen offense then exploded in the 2nd for 6 runs off a Brookelyn Jondle sac fly, a Keely Oberender 2-run RBI double, an error, a Maddie Berggren RBI double and a Cece Doyle RBI single to make it 8-1. Roland-Story added a run in the 3rd off an error, before scoring a run on a passed ball and an Evelyn Carlson RBI single walked things off in the 4th with an 11-1, 4-inning victory.

Miley Geise picked up the win in the circle, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 6. Keely Oberender went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI, as Evelyn Carlson went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Emma Lammers picked up the loss, going 3.1 innings and allowing 11 runs (3 earned) on 12 hits and struck out 3. Adey Trask had the lone hit, a solo home run in the 1st inning.

Roland-Story softball returns to action on Monday, when they host the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Hennessey Diamonds, with first pitch at 7:30 PM. South Hamilton softball returns to action on Monday, when they host the (2A) #10 West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
