STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks baseball teams returned to action on Friday night, as the two programs met one another in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered at 10-0 and ranked #3 in Class 2A, while South Hamilton entered at 0-3.
Roland-Story started scoring in the first scoring 5 runs on a passed ball, a Chance Georgius 2-run RBI single, a Braden Wallace RBI double and an error to take a 5-0 lead. The Norsemen added 2 more runs in the 2nd off an error and a Jake Knoll RBI ground out to make it 5-0 Norsemen, before the Norsemen added 6 more runs in the 4th off a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, a wild pitch, a bases-loaded walk and a Maddox Lankford bases-clearing double to make it 13-0 Norsemen. South Hamilton was retired in order in the 5th to cap a 13-0 Roland-Story win.
Cael Faber was the winning pitcher, going 5 innings and allowing no runs on 1 hit and striking out 8. Chance Georgius went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI, while Maddox Lankford went 1-for-1 with a double an 3 RBI.
Garrett Johnson was the losing pitcher, pitching 1 inning and allowing 7 runs (6 earned) on 4 hits. Liam Ealy tallied the only hit of the night for South Hamilton.
Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Monday night, when they host the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Norsemen Field, with first pitch at 7 PM. South Hamilton baseball returns to action on Monday night, when they host the West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
