HUXLEY, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks and Roland-Story Norse track and field teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip south on Highway 69 to compete in the Ballard Co-Ed Relays at Rich Strouse Field. The Hawks and Norse were joined by the host Bombers, as well as Central Springs, Collins-Maxwell, Dowling Catholic, Iowa Falls-Alden, Joshua Christian, Perry, South Tama County, Waverly-Shell Rock and West Marshall.
Roland-Story’s girls would place 3rd in the meet with 99 points and emerge with 2 meet champions, winning the 4×800 in a time of 10:36.43 with the team of Lande-Petersen-Haberl-Larson, before winning the shuttle hurdle in a time of 1:08.82 with the team of Rechkemmer-Lucas-Jondle-Helgeson. Karsyn Lande would place 2nd in the 400m dash in a time of 1:03.60, while Maddi Lucas placed 2nd in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:12.96.

South Hamilton’s boys placed 5th with a total of 54 points, emerging with a pair of meet champions, as Titus Herrick won with a throw of 142′ 1″, while Jesus Garcia won the 3200m run in a time of 10:45.05. The Hawks had a handful of 3rd place finishers, as Wyatt Gelder was 3rd in the 100m dash in a time of 11.83, Jesus Garcia was 3rd in the 800m run in a time of 2:07.44, while Ben Swenson was 3rd in the shot put with a mark of 43′ 8″.
South Hamilton’s girls would place 5th in the meet with 51 points, as they finished with a meet champion in the shot put, as junior Tessa Skartvedt won with a toss of 36′ 1.5″. Izzy Swenson placed 2nd in the high jump by clearing a career-high 5′ 0″, as the Hawks sprint medley placed 3rd in a time of 2:01.80 with the team of Van De Pol0-Gibson-Doolittle-Trask.
