Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Eagle Grove girls track compete in Girls Cardinal Relays in Garner

GARNER, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls track and field teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the drive into Hancock County to compete in the Girls Cardinal Relays at GHV High School. The Hawks and Cowgirls were joined by the host Cardinals, as well as Belmond-Klemme, Bishop Garrigan, Central Springs, Clear Lake Classical, Forest City, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Lake Mills, North Butler, North Iowa, North Union, Northwood Kensett, Rockford, West Fork and West Hancock.

Eagle Grove would place 5th in Class A with a total of 46 points, as the Eagles had a number of 4th place finishers, as Myka Anderson placed 4th in the 100m hurdles in a time of 18.58, while also finishing 4th in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:15.00. Kameya Hoop was 4th in the 400m dash in a time of 1:13.46, Makenna Surber was 4th in the 800m run in a time of 2:50.71, while the sprint medley placed 4th in a time of 2:05.00 with the team of Morgan-Hoop-Alaniz-Anderson.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 6th in the meet with 32 points, as their top placer was junior Aleena Schaffer, who finished 3rd in the 100m hurdles in a time of 18.31 seconds. The Cowgirls 4×400 would place 4th in 4:49.72 with the tea, of Morris-Tijull-Hoesing-Egland, while the 4×800 placed 4th in 12:57.18 with the team of Perez-Hoesing-Bobadilla-Seaba.

Eagle Grove and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in the Girls Lynx Relays at Bob Buckley Track in Webster City, beginning at 4:30 PM.
