Stratford-One of the Iowa House of Representative District 55 Republican candidates has announced he will not seek election in the June 2nd primary election. Brian Young of rural Stratford announced on social media that he will not be running for the Iowa House seat. The post stated that he received overwhelming support since his announcement last March that he was planning to seek office for the district that covers all of Hamilton and Franklin Counties and portions of Story and Wright Counties. The election this June will now be a two-way race between Republicans Kurtis Bower of Roland and Beau Klaver of Kamrar. The winner will face Democrat Cynthia Oppedal Paschen this November. The winner in the District 55 race will succeed Shannon Latham who is not seeking reelection this year.
