Webster City and Roland-Story boys track and field compete in Saydel Invitational

DES MOINES, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Roland-Story Norsemen boys track and field teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip south to the Des Moines metro to compete in the Saydel Boys Invitational at Saydel High School. The Lynx and Norsemen were joined by the host Eagles, as well as Ballard, Baxter, Bondurant-Farrar, Des Moines Christian, Des Moines East, Des Moines Roosevelt, Gilbert, Madrid, Nevada, Newton, North Polk and Oskaloosa.

Webster City placed 6th in the meet with a total of 62 points, as the Lynx got a historic night from Justin Callahan. The senior broke his previous school-record in the 400m dash, becoming the first Lynxmen to break 50 seconds in the race, winning in a time of 49.83 seconds. Callahan then followed up with a win in the 400m hurdles in a lifetime best mark of 55.56 seconds. The Lynx Sprint Medley would place 2nd in a time of 1:36.38 with the team of Griffith-Torres-Hansen-Stroner, as Jaxon Griffith placed 3rd in the 110m high hurdles in a time of 15.68 seconds.

Roland-Story placed 7th with 61 points on Thursday, as their lone meet champion was senior Tristen Crabbs, who won the 100m dash in a time of 11.33 seconds. Freshman Hendrix Billerbeck placed 2nd in the 200m dash in a time of 24.08 seconds, as senior Cody Long placed 2nd in the long jump with a mark of 21′ 7″. The Norsemen’s 4×100 placed 3rd in a time of 43.58 seconds with the team of Kilstofte-Triggs-Long-Crabbs, as the 4×200 placed 3rd in a time of 1:31.07 with the team of Kilstofte-Thoreson-Triggs-Crabbs.

Webster City boys track and field returns to action on Tuesday, when they host the annual Lynx Boys Invitational at Bob Buckley Track in Webster City, beginning at 4:30 PM. Roland-Story boys track returns to action on Monday, when they compete in the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Boys Invitational beginning at 4:30 PM.
