MANSON, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks, Eagle Grove Eagles and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track and field athletes returned to action on Thursday, as they competed in the Emily Markert Co-Ed Relays at the Keith Hart Athletic Complex in Manson. The Hawks, Eagles and Cowboys were joined by the host Cougars, as well as Alta-Aurelia, Cherokee Washington, East Sac County, Fort Dodge, Greene County, MVAOCOU, OABCIG, Pocahontas Area, Southeast Valley, St. Edmond and West Bend-Mallard.
South Hamilton’s boys placed 6th in the meet with 45 points, as the Hawks top placer was sophomore Ben Swenson, who finished 2nd in the boys shot put with a throw of 46′ 6.5″, as Hayden Hill placed 4th in the 3200m run in a time of 11:07.12. Titus Herrick placed 5th in a competitive discus field, with a personal-best throw of 142′ 7″, as Jesus Garcia placed 5th in the 1600m run in a time of 4:57.10. The Hawks distance medley placed 4th in a time of 3:55.28 with the team of Dean-Gelder-Northrop-Garcia.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys would score 10 points as Huxley Lingenfelter competed in the discus in a final effort to qualify for the Drake Relays, as Lingenfelter won the discus with a best throw of 153′ 11″.

South Hamilton’s girls placed 8th with 52 points, as the Hawks top placers were senior Izzy Swenson and junior Tessa Skartvedt, as Swenson placed 2nd in the girls high jump by clearing 4′ 10″, as Skartvedt placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 37′ 1.25″. Stella Martensen placed 3rd in the high jump with a mark of 4′ 10″, as the Hawks distance medley placed 4th in a time of 4:52.24 with the team of Van De Pol-Doolittle-Trask-Hebnes. South Hamilton’s 4×800 placed 4th in a time of 11:51.39 with the team of Beaune-Chamness-Bentley-Seaton.
Eagle Grove’s girls placed 14th with 6.5 points, as their top placer was sophomore Myka Anderson, who tied for 5th in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:17.41. Addison Eittreim placed 6th in the high jump by clearing 4′ 4″, as the Eagles sprint medley placed 8th in a time of 2:08.47 with the team of Morgan-Anderson-Alaniz-Hoop.
South Hamilton track and field returns to action on Tuesday, as they compete at the Ballard Co-Ed Invitational in Huxley, beginning at 4:30 PM. Eagle Grove girls track and field returns to action on Tuesday, when they compete at the GHV Cardinal Relays in Garner at 4:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track and field returns to action on Monday, when they compete in the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs Invitational in Hampton, beginning at 4:30 PM.
