Edible Garden to launch beverage production facility in Webster City. IEDA board awards $2.66 million in tax credits for the project.

Webster City-The Iowa Economic Development Board this (Friday) morning awarded $2.66 million in tax credits through the BIG (Business Incentives for Growth) program for a company coming to Webster City. New Jersey-based Edible Garden AG Incorporated which is a controlled environment agriculture company focused on organic, sustainably grown products and a Zero-Waste Inspired approach to reducing food and packaging waste plans to convert the former Kenco and later Natural Shrimp facility on North Des Moines Street into a high-capacity beverage plant. Repurposing a former aquaculture shrimp facility, the project will produce shelf-stable, ready to drink plant- and dairy-based protein beverage through automated processing. The $75 million capital investment is expected to create 42 jobs. with 22 incented at a qualifying wage at $25.15 an hour.  IEDA approved tax credits for economic projects in Des Moines, Mediapolis and Waterloo.
