WAVERLY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and Eagle Grove Eagles track and field teams returned to action on Tuesday to compete in a indoor invitational at Wartburg College in Waverly. The Norsemen, Cowboys and Eagles were joined by AGWSR, Aplington-Parkersburg, Baxter, Cedar Ridge Christian, Clarksville, Denver, Dike-New Hartford, Dunkerton, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Hillcrest Academy, Hudson, Iowa Valley, Jesup, Keokuk, Mason City, Mount Pleasant, Nashua-Plainfield, Newton, North Butler, North Linn, Pocahontas Area, South Hardin, St. Edmond, Union Community, Valley Lutheran, Wahlert Catholic, Wapsie Valley, Waterloo West, West Fork, West Hancock and Xavier.
Roland-Story’s boys would place 3rd in the meet with 41 points, crowning a meet champion in the 200m dash in senior Tristen Crabbs, who set a new meet record in a time of 23.09 seconds. The Boys 4×200 would place 2nd in a time of 1:34.75 with the team of Kilstofte-Thoreson-Triggs-Crabbs, as Cody Long placed 3rd in the long jump with a mark of 20′ 9.5″. CJ Lucchesi would place 3rd in the 3200m in a time of 10:23.45, while placing 5th in the 1600m in a time of 4:58.72. The Boys 4×400 would place 5th in a time of 3:43.50 with the team of Miskell-McIlrath-Kilstofte-Thoreson, while Colin Willis placed 7th in the 800m in a time of 2:13.54.
Eagle Grove’s boys would place 27th, scoring 2 points as their 4×800 placed 7th in a time of 9:34.39 with the team of Waldo Martinez-Gonzalez-Terwilliger-Castro. Leelan Spencer placed 16th in the 200m dash in a time of 24.49, as Hunter Waldo-Martinez placed 13th in the 1600m in a time of 5:14.68. CGD’s boys would not score, as their top placer was junior Logan Torsell, who placed 9th in the 800m run in a time of 2:13.85, as Jared Hernandez Ordonez placed 15th in the long jump with a mark of 18′ 7.75″. The Cowboys 4×400 placed 15th in a time of 3:57.01 with the team of P. Lingenfelter-Duncalf-Torsell-Hernandez Ordonez.
Roland-Story’s girls placed 13th with 19 points, as their top placer was sophomore Taylor Rechkemmer, who placed 3rd in the 55m hurdles in a time of 9.19 seconds, as senior Selah Helgeson placed 7th in a time of 9.76 seconds. The 4×800 placed 3rd in a time of 10:52.15 with the team of Petersen-Long-Larson-Lande, while the 4×200 placed 5th in a time of 1:56.32 with the team of Reitano-Jondle-Lucas-Rechkemmer.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would not score in the meet, as their top placer was junior Aleena Schaffer placed 16th in the 55m hurdles in a time of 10.22 seconds, as Johanna Perez placed 26th in the 800m run in a time of 3:02.51.
Roland-Story track and field returns to action on March 30th, when the girls compete in the Bondurant-Farrar early bird at 4:15 PM, while the boys open their season on April 2nd with their home early bird on April 2nd at 4:30 PM. CGD track and field returns to action on Thursday and Friday for the North Iowa Indoor Championships in Clear Lake. Eagle Grove boys track opens their outdoor season on March 31st at the Nevada early bird, beginning at 4:30 PM.
