Hamilton County Parks to open for the season tentatively April 3rd!

The date of Friday,April 3rd is the tentative date for the opening of all three Hamilton County Park campgrounds. The Hamilton County Conservation Board voted Tuesday morning for the opening at Bells Mill, Briggs Woods and Little Wall Lake Parks. The opening is contingent on weather conditions and temperatures for the start of the new season this next week.

Hamilton County Conservation director Brian Lammers said the office will begin advertising for a new manager for the Conservation office. Lori Westrum who has been the office manager for the conservation office plans to retire this July 3rd. Information is available by contacting the conservation office for a resume. Candidates are being interviewed for the position of park ranger for Briggs Woods Park. The goal is to hire a new ranger by sometime in April.

Golf fans will be happy to know the golf season is underway at Briggs Woods with the course now open. The first day of golf was last Friday,March 20th. Any changes on any closings due to weather will be announced on social media. An agreement between the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office and Conservation Department was approved Tuesday morning. There will be further discussion at next month’s board meeting on a 28-E agreement between the Jewell Fire Department for the use of a boat at Little Wall Lake Park. The Conservation Board approved its budget for the 2027 Fiscal Year to be submitted to the Hamilton County Supervisors for final approval.

The next meeting for the Hamiton County Conservation Board will be on Thursday,April 23rd at the conservation office starting at 9:30 a.m.
