Webster City- A Webster City man agreed to a plea deal and prison time in the death of an infant. 28-year-old Gunner Michael Jones was charged with first-degree murder for the April,2023 death of an infant identified only as “H.A.” Jones pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment. On April 15,2023, a 10-month-old boy was found unresponsive at a residence in the 100 block of the Third Street in Webster City. Webster City Police took the child to Van Diest Medical Center for treatment. The boy was then transferred to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines where he was pronounced dead. Investigators said Jones had been the only one alone with the boy before the child suffered injuries that resulted in his death. Jones was sentenced last Friday to 15 years in prison and must pay $150,000 to the victim’s estate.
