STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team returned to action on Monday evening, as they hosted their annual Norsemen Invitational at Roland-Story High School. The Norsemen were joined by Gilbert, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Marshalltown and South Hardin.
Roland-Story opened with a 2-0 victory over Hampton-Dumont-CAL with sets of 21-8 and 21-19, as Brookelyn Jondle had 9 kills, Maddi Lucas had 8 kills and a block, while Miley Geise had 6 kills, 14 assists and a block. The Norsemen then swept Marshalltown 2-0 with sets of 21-12 and 21-13, as Maddi Lucas had 5 kills and 2 blocks, while Charlotte Schaben had 4 kills and a block.
The Norse then downed South Hardin in straight sets 2-0 with sets of 21-10 and 21-18, as Maddi Lucas and Brookelyn Jondle each finished with 6 kills. Roland-Story ended the tournament by sweeping their former conference rivals in Gilbert by sets of 21-19 and 21-14, as Brookelyn Jondle had 9 kills, while Charlotte Schaben and Maddi Lucas each had 4 kills.
Roland-Story volleyball returns to action on Thursday, when they host Perry and (2A) #9 Woodward-Granger for a Heart of Iowa Conference tri at Roland-Story High School, beginning at 5 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
