ALGONA, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx cross country teams returned to the course on Monday evening, as they ran at the Algona Invitational at River Road Golf Course in Algona. The Lynx were joined by the host Bulldogs, as well as Bishop Garrigan, Charles City, Clear Lake, Emmetsburg, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Forest City, Fort Dodge, Gilbert, GTRA, Humboldt, Mason City, North Union, Sheldon, Sioux Center, Spencer, Spirit Lake, St. Edmond and West Bend-Mallard.
Webster City’s girls would place 11th with a total of 275 points, as senior Izzy Grossoehme placed 23rd in a time of 22:03.12, while Lyla Brookshire was 37th in 22:48.39. McKenna Buakham was 74th in 23:48.27, Rubi Andrade-Murillo was 85th in 25:25.56, while Marlene Saavendra Mendoza was 86th in 26:26.50 to round out scoring.
The Lynx boys would place 10th with a total of 277 points, as junior Daniel Murillo-Delfin was 21st in a time of 18:06.18, while 8th Grader Max Barrick was 47th in 18:55.45. Aiden Wardell was 64th in 19:32.54, Kaleb Draeger was 72nd in 19:43.71, as Jordan Betts was 78th in 20:01.44 to round out scoring.
Webster City cross country returns to action on Thursday, when they run at the Bulldog Invitational at Maynes Grove Park outside Iowa Falls, beginning at 4:40 PM.
