OGDEN, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks cross country teams returned to the course on Monday evening, as they made the trip into Boone County to compete in the Ogden Invitational at Don Williams Golf Course. The Hawks were joined by the host Bulldogs, as well as Ankeny Christian, BCLUW, Boone, Collins-Maxwell, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Dallas Center-Grimes, Earlham, Grand View Christian, Greene County, Interstate 35, Madrid, Panorama, Pleasantville and Woodward-Granger.
South Hamilton’s girls would finish 12th on Monday with a total of 301 points, as Jill Bentley placed 40th in a time of 23:36.75, as senior Cici Herrick was 56th in 24:43.71. Rosemary Chamness was 92nd in 27:59.84, Lexi Mathes was 97th in 28:24.70, as Laurel Johnson was 107th in 30:52.37.
The Hawk boys placed 4th as a team with 147 points, as senior Jesus Garcia placed 6th in a time of 17:08.26, while Jackson Olmstead was 16th in 18:05.67. Hayden Hill was 26th in 18:29.42, Jacob Lutjen was 43rd in 19:25.92, as John Sandgren rounded out scoring in 63rd with a time of 20:38.34.
South Hamilton cross country returns to action on Thursday, when they run at the Leon Fox Invite at Perry, beginning at 5:15 PM.
