COLO, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen and Eagle Grove Eagles cross country teams returned to the course on Monday evening, as they made the trip to eastern Story County to run at the Nevada Invitational at Hickory Grove Park in Colo. The Norsemen and Eagles were joined by the host Cubs, as well as Carroll, Creston, Des Moines North, Des Moines Prep, East Marshall, South Hardin and West Marshall.
Roland-Story’s girls would finish 3rd in the team race with a total of 81 points, as senior Kara Patterson was the top placer in 12th with a time of 21:56.7, while junior Sophie Bates was 13th in 22:18.4. Junior Hadley Carlson was 17th in a time of 23:39.0, junior Callie Jedlicka was 20th in a time of 24:19.3, while senior Lucy Schmidt was 26th in a time of 25:19.3 to round out scoring.
Eagle Grove did not score as a team, but freshman London Parrott did have a top 10 finish, placing 10th in 21:28.2. Junior Myka Anderson was 27th in 25:39.0, as freshman Adalie Alt was 56th in 33:18.8.
Roland-Story’s boys would place 3rd with a total of 80 points, as senior Corben Lucchesi was 3rd in a time of 17:25.1, while freshman Caden Lucchesi was 9th in a time of 18:44.2. Freshman Jerry Severson was 21st in 20:10.1, sophomore Josiah Stotts was 24th in 20:33.4, as senior Henry Dahlsten was 36th in a time of 21:43.5.
Eagle Grove’s boys would place 5th with a total of 121 points, as senior Hunter Waldo-Martinez was 14th in a time of 19:03.7, while freshman Stetson Kvale was 25th in a time of 20:35.7. Junior Adam Dak was 27th in 20:38.5, junior Asarel Castro was 34th in 21:34.3, as freshman Tucker Taylor rounded out scoring in 46th with a time of 22:11.4.
Roland-Story cross country returns to action on Thursday, when they run at the Leon Fox Invitational at Perry beginning at 5:15 PM. Eagle Grove cross country returns to action next Tuesday, when they host the Dick Bell Invitational at Eagle Grove Golf Course, beginning at 4:55 PM.
