ZEARING, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks cross country team returned to the course on Tuesday evening, as they competed at the Colo-NESCO Invitational at Dakins Lake Park in Zearing. The Hawks were joined by the host Royals, as well as Ankeny Christian, BGM, Colfax-Mingo, Collins-Maxwell, GMG, Meskwaki and Woodward Academy.
South Hamilton’s girls would place 7th in the meet with 156 points, as junior Jill Bentley place 19th in a time of 23:40.48, while senior Cici Herrick was 21st in 24:06.12. Sophomore Lexi Mathes was 41st in 28:02.75, senior Rosemary Chamness was 42nd in 28:10.04, as senior Laurel Johnson was 51st in 30:42.50.
South Hamilton’s boys would place 2nd in the meet with 68 points, as times were not available but placements were. Senior Jesus Garcia finished 3rd, fellow senior Hayden Hill was 5th. Jackson Olmstead would place 11th, Jacob Lutjen placed 17th and John Sandgren rounded out scoring in 39th.
South Hamilton cross country returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to State Center for the West Marshall Invitational at Lincoln Valley Golf Course, beginning at 5:45 PM.
