GARNER, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip north on Highway 69 to take on the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals in North Central Conference Pride Division action at GHV High School. CGD entered at 9-5, while GHV entered at 15-0.
It would be back-and-forth early on in the match, as GHV would go on a run to lead by as much as 8. CGD would rally, cutting the deficit down to 2 late, but the Cardinals would hold on for 25-22 win. The Cardinals then settled in from there, as they won set 2 25-13, before winning set 3 25-15 to cap a 3-0 sweep.
The Ace Hardware of Webster City Ace of the Game was CGD junior Ella Finneran, who finished with 6 kills and 3 aces. Freshman Kinlee Nail finished with 6 kills, while Blaire Askelsen finished with 5 kills and 3 blocks.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball returns to action on Saturday, when they travel to Forest City for the Forest City Invitational, beginning at 9 AM.
