South Hamilton football falls at home to Southeast Valley, 54-0

JEWELL, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks football team returned to the field on Friday night, as they hosted the Southeast Valley Jaguars in non-district action at Bill Taylor Field in Jewell. South Hamilton entered at 1-1, while Southeast Valley entered at 2-0.

Southeast Valley would put their foot on the gas almost immediately on Friday, as the Jaguars put up 3 touchdowns in the opening frame to take a 20-0 lead. That lead would only expand in the 2nd half, with the Jaguars putting up 4 touchdowns in the quarter as Southeast Valley led 48-0 at the halftime break. Scoring would be mostly non-existent in the 2nd half, as Southeast Valley did punch in a score in the 4th quarter as the Jaguars capped a 54-0 victory.

South Hamilton would be led by junior Wyatt Gelder, who finished with 91 yards on 21 carries, while Kash Northrop had 6 carries for 21 yards and 3 receptions for 18 yards. Junior Kyler Ziesman had 2 tackles and a sack defensively.

South Hamilton football opens district play on Friday Night, as they travel west on Highway 175 to take on the South Central Calhoun Titans in Class 1A, District 2 action, with kickoff at 7 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
