Eagle Grove football falls on the road to (A) #8 West Fork, 53-30

SHEFFIELD, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles football team returned to action on Friday Night, as they made the trip into northern Franklin County to take on the West Fork Warhawks in non-district action at the West Fork Football Complex. Eagle Grove entered at 2-0, while West Fork entered at 2-0 and ranked #8 in Class A.

Eagle Grove would not start off on the right foot, fumbling on the opening possession, as West Fork scored on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Zander Hansen to Keston Lambertsen as the Warhawks took an 8-0 lead. The Eagles would punt on their ensuing drive, as West Fork got back to the endzone on a 5-yard run by Blaine Schulz to go up 16-0, before adding on another touchdown on a 51-yard run from Blaine Schulz as West Fork led 24-0 after the 4th quarter. Eagle Grove would wake up in the 2nd quarter behind a 5-yard touchdown run Adrian Whipple to bring the score to 24-8, before the Warhawks turned it over on downs, and Eagle Grove punched in a score off a 3-yard run from Trenton Robinson as the Eagles trailed just 24-16 at halftime.

West Fork fumbled the ball away on their opening possession, as Eagle Grove scored on a 21-yard touchdown run from Kylar Sisson as the Eagles trailed 24-22. West Fork would answer with 3 straight touchdowns on a 3-yard run by Zander Hansen, a 40-yard run by Blaine Schulz and a QB sneak from Hansen as West Fork led 46-24. Both teams traded touchdowns in the 4th quarter as Eagle Grove would fall 53-30.

Kylar Sisson led the Eagles with 8 carries for 159 yards and a touchdown, while Trenton Robinson had 10 carries for 59 yards and a score. Arutro Reyna Salazar and Gavin Pedersen each had 7 tackles, as Reyna Salazar tallied 1.5 TFL as well.

Eagle Grove football returns to action on Friday, when they host the (1A) #2 South Hardin Tigers at Gene Hinrichsen Field in Class 1A, District 3 action with kickoff at 7 PM.
