Webster City football falls at Fort Dodge, 57-0

FORT DODGE, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx football team returned to the grid iron on Friday night, as they made the trip west on Highway 20 to take on the Fort Dodge Dodgers in non-district action at Dodger Stadium. Webster City entered with a record of 0-1, while Fort Dodge entered at 1-0.

Webster City started with the football, but were picked off to end the opening drive as Fort Dodge scored on a Tru McBride QB sneak as the Dodgers took a 6-0 lead. That lead lasted into the 2nd quarter when Fort Dodge blew the game open on an 80-yard touchdown pass from Tru McBride to Mason Hughes as the Dodgers led 12-0, as Fort Dodge running back Will McElroy broke touchdown runs of 47 yards and 61 yards as the Dodgers led at the halftime break 28-0.

Fort Dodge would pick up where they left off in the 2nd half as they scored on their opening drive with a 3-yard touchdown run by Tru McBride to extend the lead to 34-0, before McBride scored on a 14-yard run with 5:26 to go in the 3rd with Fort Dodge ahead 42-0. The Dodgers would score one more time in the 3rd on a 17-yard touchdown run from Will McElroy, before a garbage time touchdown from the Dodgers made the final 57-0.

The Ace Hardware of Webster City Aces of the Game were were sophomore Grayson Simonton and senior Kaleb Hansen. Simonton had 4 tackles and 67 return yards, while Hansen had 20 carries for 62 yards. Boston Farley finished with 3.5 tackles, 1.5 TFL and a sack.
