Webster City volleyball downs Hampton-Dumont-CAL in NCC opener, 3-1

WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx volleyball team opened their home slate and North Central Conference slate on Thursday night, as they hosted the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs for their conference opener at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 2-1, while Hampton-Dumont-CAL entered at 1-0.

It was an inauspicious start for the Lynx, as they wound up falling to the Bulldogs in the opening set by a score of 25-18, before waking up in the 2nd set, which included a 10-0 run, as Webster City took the set 25-18 and tied the match at 1-1. The Lynx would dominate in set 3 by a score of 25-15, before taking care of business in the 4th set by a score of 25-18 to secure a 3-1 victory.

The Ace Hardware of Webster City Ace of the Game was freshman Allison Arends, who finished with 15 kills on the night, as junior Evie Davis finished with 4 kills and 6 blocks, while Tristyn Wright added 8 kills and 2 aces.

Webster City volleyball returns to action on Saturday, when they travel to Fort Dodge for the St. Edmond Tournament at St. Edmond Catholic School, beginning at 8:30 AM.
