Hamilton County sees a slight increase in unemployment for July.

Hamilton County’s unemployment rate for July was at 2.8 percent in statistics released on Tuesday. The Iowa Workforce Development office reported in July, there were 7,670 people employed in jobs across Hamilton County while there 220 people unemployed for the month. The June unemployment rate was 2.6 percent. The unemployment rates for surrounding counties included Boone and Wright Counties tied at 2.9 percent, Franklin County at 3.6 percent, Hardin County at 3.3 percent, Story County at 3.5 percent and Webster County at 3.7 percent. In Iowa, the unemployment rate for July was 3.2 percent. This was the third month there was no change in the unemployment rate. There were 1,672,200 people employed across the state during July while there were 54,700 who were without work .
