STORY CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx, Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks volleyball teams opened the 2026 season on Monday night, as all 3 schools faced one another, along with the Central Springs Panthers, at Roland-Story High School.
The first round of matches saw the 9th-ranked Norsemen sweep Central Springs 2-0 by sets of 25-11 and 25-14. Senior Brookelyn Jondle led the way with 9 kills and an ace, while Miley Geise had 4 kills, 13 assists and 2 aces. Webster City would outlast South Hamilton 2-1 in the first match with sets of 25-16, 21-25 and 15-9. Jaylyn Bahrenfuss would lead the Lynx with 8 kills, 12 assists and 2 aces, as senior Avery Poppen added 7 kills and 4 aces, as South Hamilton stats were not available on Bound.
In the second round of matches, Webster City faced off with Roland-Story, as the Lynx pushed the Norsemen to a full 3 sets, but the #9 Norsemen held on for a 2-1 win with sets of 25-15, 25-27 and 15-6. Roland-Story was led by Brookelyn Jondle with 9 kills and 4 aces, while freshman Charlotte Schaben finished with 4 kills and 3 blocks. Webster City saw Tristyn Wright lead with 6 kills and 2 blocks, while Evie Davis added 5 kills and 3 blocks. South Hamilton would sweep Central Springs in their 2nd match by a 2-0 margin with sets of 25-17 and 30-28.
The final round of matches saw Roland-Story sweep their rivals in South Hamilton 2-0 with sets of 25-15 and 25-13, middle hitter Maddi Lucas led the Norse with 8 kills and a block, while Miley Geise totaled 5 kills, 21 assists and 5 aces. South Hamilton stats were not available on Bound. Webster City would sweep Central Springs by sets of 25-21 and 25-18, freshman Allison Arends led the Lynx with 7 kills, while Evie Davis added 4 kills and 4 blocks.
Webster City volleyball returns to action on Thursday, when they host Hampton-Dumont-CAL for their North Central Conference opener at Webster City High School at 7 PM on 95.7 KQWC. Roland-Story volleyball returns to action on Saturday when they play in the Skip Anderson Classic at Bondurant-Farrar High School, beginning at 8 AM. South Hamilton volleyball returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Eldora for a non-conference tri against South Hardin and BCLUW, beginning at 5:30 PM.
