WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Wednesday evening, as they hosted the Forest City Indians in non-conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered with a record of 19-8, while Forest City entered with a record of 17-4.
Webster City would pounce on the Indians right from the get out, scoring 8 runs in the opening frame behind a Carter Mickelson 2-run RBI single, a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, a bases-loaded walk, and a Jaxon Griffith grand slam as the Lynx took an 8-0 lead. The Lynx offense would pour more on to the lead in the 3rd with 6 runs on a Matt Tesdahl 2-run RBI single, a Kaleb Hansen 2-run RBI single, an Aiden Hrnicek RBI single and a Boston Farley RBI single to put Webster City ahead 14-0. Forest City would score a run each in the 4th and 5th, but the Lynx were able to coast for a 14-2, 5-inning victory.
Aiden Hrnicek picked up the win on the mound, going 5 innings and allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits and struck out 2. Jaxon Griffith would go 2-for-3 with a grand slam, while Carter Mickelson went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Webster City baseball returns to action on Thursday, when they host the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets in a North Central Conference doubleheader at Webster City High School, with Game 1 at 5 PM on AM 1570/FM 99.1 KZWC.
