Eagle Grove softball shuts out Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in 4 innings, 11-0

GARNER, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip into Hancock County to take on the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals in Top of Iowa West action at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura High School. The Eagles entered with a record of 14-10, while GHV entered at 8-16.

Eagle Grove was first on the board with an Ellie Lenning RBI single in the first to put the Eagles up 1-0, before the Eagles put up 4 runs in the 3rd on a Crystal Flores RBI single, a passed ball, a Holly Anderson solo home run and an error as the Eagles took a 5-0 lead. Eagle Grove then broke the game open in the 4th on a passed ball, a wild pitch, a Holly Anderson RBI ground out, an Ellie Lenning RBI triple, a Lily Locke RBI single and a 2nd passed ball, as the Eagles would seal an 11-0, 4-inning victory.

Johanna Flores-Baez was the winning pitcher, going 4 innings and allowing no runs on 1 hit and striking out 2, as Holly Anderson was 1-for-3 with a solo home run and 2 RBI, while Ellie Lenning was 2-for-2 with a triple and 2 RBI.

Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Tuesday night, as they host the North Union Warriors in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park, with first pitch at 6 PM.
