Eagle Grove baseball grabs TOIW road win at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, 6-3

GARNER, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip into Hancock County, to take on the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals in Top of Iowa West action at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura High School. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 5-15, while GHV entered at 11-10.

Eagle Grove would jump all over the Cardinals in the 2nd inning with a 6-run frame, with a run scoring on an error, a Keegan Eisentrager RBI single, a passed ball, a Jace Olson RBI single and an Adrian Whipple 2-run RBI double to put the Eagles ahead 6-0. GHV answered with 2 runs in the 2nd, and a run in the 4th, but that would not be enough as the Eagles held for a 6-3 victory.

Trenton Robinson was the winning pitcher, going 5.2 innings and allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits and struck out 6, as Will Rudolph picked up the 4-out save. Adrian Whipple went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, while Coleson Schafer went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host the North Union Warrior in Top of Iowa West action at Bruce Rholl Field, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
