DES MOINES, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip to the Des Moines metro to take on the Saydel Eagles in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Saydel High School. Roland-Story entered at 18-7, while Saydel entered at 8-15.
Roland-Story would do much of their offensive damage in the 2nd, with the Norsemen scoring a run on an error, followed by a Cece Doyle RBI double, with Doyle then scoring on another Eagles error as the Norsemen took a 3-0 lead. Roland-Story then scored another run in the 5th off another Eagles error to take a 4-0 lead, as Saydel rallied with a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 7th, but Roland-Story would hold on for a 4-3 win.
Miley Geise picked up the win in the circle, going the complete game and allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and striking out 10, while Cece Doyle went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double.
Roland-Story softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host (3A) #6 PCM in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Bill Hennessy Field in Roland, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
